The Perhentian Islands are located on the north-eastern coast of Peninsular Malaysia, about 25km off the mainland. This group of islands, which literally means ‘stopping point’ were so named because of their role as a stopover for rest or shelter during storms for fishermen from Kelantan and Terengganu. The two inhabited islands Pulau Perhentian Besar (Big Perhentian) and Pulau Perhentian Kecil (Small Perhentian) remain relatively undeveloped.

Universal Diver is located on the western coast of Pulau Perhentian Besar, amidst popular beach resorts, beautiful sandy beaches and waters teeming with marine flora and fauna. The abundant coral reef formations native to the surrounding waters provide a colourful backdrop to the teeming population of fish, turtles and other wildlife indigenous to this slice of paradise.

Besides its wonders of the deep, Pulau Perhentian’s lush tropical foliage has something to offer terrestrial adventure seekers. Coastal tropical jungles, which cover over 80% of the Perhentian Islands are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, some of which are exclusively found in this sunny corner of the world.
